Great gear, good prices I'm not a big camper, but any time I've had to buy outdoor gear I make my way over to the Backpacker for quality stuff that lasts and lasts. I particularly like the variety of boots they carry. They have a great selection of merchandise and beat their competitors by a mile with their customer service.
A great store The Backpacker has been around Columbia for as long as I can remember. They sell quality products and have a very large selection of North Face and Patagonia, and a very nice boot selection. They now have some competition in the outdoor market in Columbia but their service puts them over the top.
Great store, good peps... The Backpacker has been around Columbia for 30 years now! How many businesses in Cola can say that? The shop is nice, packed full of great gear... the folks that work there are nice and very helpful. It's a real quality store. PROS: Nice atmosphere, good peps, great gear CONS:

Went in to buy a pair of Chacos for my wife and had a ton of help from Nasser. He sat down with her and showed her Chacos and Tevas, walked her through the differences and how to fit them. Then he let her wear them around the store to make sure she got the pair she wanted. Awesome store and awesome people!!

I visited The Backpacker a week ago. I am from Columbia and stop in on my visits home. I have shopped the backpacker since high school and college in the late 70's. On this visit I bought some rain gear, T Shirt,and few other items. The guy who checked me out, a man in his 60"s or so,was disinterested and just not friendly. Can I put 50,000 stars?! Michael in the Columbia location is the best man on the face of the Earth. He made something happen that I thought was going to be impossible. He helped me so much and I cannot thank him enough. Because of this I would recommend to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Very helpful staff in regards to backpacking needs. They are knowledgeable about the merchandise in store. Purchased a new Ultralight Purifier Bottle and I cannot wait to try it on the trail!
