A little misunderstanding There was a brief misunderstanding at the restaurant, I'd ordered a bistro steak, a smaller appetizer and a salad, the waitress came out and told me that they were out of that particular kind of meat and that they would substitute the New York strip steak for the bistro steak, I said "fine", had a very enjoyable meal but then discovered that I'd been charged for the New York strip rather than for the bistro steak. Wine is Great! The bar has wine tasting and includes a very extensive wine menu. They also have great appetizers and a cheese sampler with your choice of several excellent, unusual cheeses. Never had dinner there but heard it is good.
great wines The best part of Bacchus is the wine bar. They have a huge selection of wines to choose from, many of which you can sample by the glass or in a flight. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to tell you about the wine. It is a little pricey, but worth it. PROS: great selection of wine CONS: none
Excelent Wine Bar Located in downtown Buffalo on Chippewa St., Bacchus boasts of a plentiful selection of wines. Parking can be found around the area for a cost (typically $5). This fine dining restaurant though might put a dent in your wallet. Food is average when you factor in the cost aspects. The atmosphere is excellent for a romantic date. hmmmmmm – Well....The food was great as was the service and I was enjoying my meal UNTIL I SAW A RAT RUN THROUGH THE DINING ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't say that I will ever be back- yuck!
Best meal I,ve had in years – Any time there,s monkfish on the menu I try it. Bacchus ha dit last week and I have never had it done so well.Stuffed and tender , flavor was incredible.The sauce and sides were terrific . Had a scallop app and they were perfectly done Cannot recall ever enjoying a meal as much. Nice that you may order small plates if you're not ravenous. Partners steak was done perfectly and seasoned to perfection.. Will return as often as possible....

Great atmosphere and service. Wine and bar menu was very nice. – We really enjoyed our visit to Bacchus and will be returning with friends this weekend. We live about 1 1/2 hours from Buffalo but think nothing of coming up for an evening at Bacchus. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone that enjoys good wine, good food, and good company.
