We had a terrible experience with Avis in Chicago. We were wrongly charged $260 for an “option” we never requested (an additional driver). After calling four times, Avis finally admitted the mistake and even sent us an email confirming the refund. But guess what? We never received the money back. This is absolutely unacceptable. Avis has shown zero respect for its customers – charging fees without consent, taking advantage of our naïveté, and then failing to honor their own written commitment. Despite of the hassle when checked mg in and the wait I will give them 4 stars because they gave us the suv we preferred. It was a long wait but worth it. I do feel like they need to work on the customer service in general but maybe they were just too busy so giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Our experiences with Avis are absolute horrible, the customer service is a nightmare. Our experience is that you cannot trust anybody in that company. If we could give minus 5 stars, we would… We booked a car for a road trip from Boston to Chicago. Unfortunately our rental car was stolen 4 days later in Montreal. It was not our fault - as confirmed by the police - but we neither got any help nor refund let alone a replacement car from Avis.
