Avis at O’Hare is a bunch of scammers. We returned our vehicle after driving our two young children around the city to visit family. We had absolutely no garbage or damage to the vehicle upon return. We were charged a random $450 damage fee for what they said was smoke in the vehicle. They sent some terrible pictures of what looked like random dust on the dashboard - potentially an attempt to say it was ash? We do not smoke, let alone with young children in the car. Muy tardado el proceso de renta aun cuando ya se contaba con reserva, no me gusta el hecho de que cuando reservas no puedas seleccionar el seguro ni ver el costo, no es muy transparente y aparte es muy caro, eso es en todas las agencias de rentas de auto en Mexico (tipo alamo, enterprise, hertz, etc) las de renta locales te incluyen el seguro a precios mas accesibles desafortunadamente hay muy pocas en el país.

Update: Avis reversed the charge. It is obvious they were trying to scam me and hoped that I would let the charges slide. I rented a vehicle from Avis at O’Hare Airport in 2024. The car was returned in good condition. Nearly a year later, Avis charged my credit card $152 for alleged damage or “roadside assistance,” neither of which occurred during my rental.
