Surgery itself went fine. However, I only saw my surgeon twice. Once for the consult, and once before surgery. Before surgery, he admitted that he had forgotten everything we had discussed in the consult. I had a gallbladder removal and was given Tylenol for pain. I have had countless other surgeries and this has been my worst pain wise. I do not seek for meds ever, but upon asking for something just a little stronger, I was told there was NOTHING they could give me. On 6/27/24 I went to the Avera Surgery Center on the Avera Campus for reconstruction plastic surgery. My experience, other than the actual surgery, left much to be desired. Communication with my driver (daughter) was almost non existent. For nearly 2 hrs she was in the dark. When she was brought to Room 12, believing My procedure was over, only to learn I hadn't even gone in yet. I, on 2 separate occasions, told 1st on my phone interview, and 2nd with an in clinic questionnaire, that I wanted any prescription medication to b... read more

Every experienced, me and my family members have encountered with Avera has been excellent. From the moment we go in, to the moment we leave. We come from different states and we have never experienced that service of excellence as we do with Avera. Avera doctors and staff are SUPER competent, kind and caring.
