Shawn helped me win a protective order for domestic violence and a custody case. I was very stressed about the gravity of the whole situation, and Shawn remained level-headed and calm throughout the process. It was reassuring having him on my side and being able to trust him to handle things. His paralegal Jennifer was also great to work with. They were always responsive to phone calls and emails, communicated well, and met court deadlines.

Shawn is a top notch attorney with excellent knowledge of the law. He helped me out of a real bind on short notice. My soon to be ex-wife left the state of Montana with my children and moved in with her mother near Devils Lake. She filed a completely bogus restraining order for domestic violence and abuse, (neither of which ever occurred, at least not at my hand, in our 22 years of marriage) because it was the only way she could shoehorn the divorce case into North Dakota from Montana. I waited a year to write this review so it would not be influenced by emotion or the outcome of my case. While Shawn is knowledgeable about the law, I would not recommend him as a divorce attorney. A few days before court, he told me he was approaching the case as though we were going to lose, stating that "if we win, it will be a bonus." That comment, combined with last minute attention to key details, did not inspire confidence or reflect strong advocacy at a critical time.
