Established in 1996. AutoNation's roots trace back to 1996, when current Chairman H. Wayne Huizenga invested in an Atlanta-based waste management company that later became Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Republic Industries, Inc. Republic Industries would go on to acquire most of the more than 321 new vehicle franchises the Company operates today, as well as several waste management and vehicle rental companies, before changing its name on April 6, 1999 to AutoNation, Inc.

I was contacted by AutoNation Honda because I was selling pick-up and they wanted to make an offer. So, I made an appointment and took the pick-up to allow them to appraise the vehicle. A very nice lady named Tammy gave me an offer of $41850.00 and told me it was good for a week. I thought I wanted more and since I had a week I went home to discuss it with my wife.
