I’m a member at the one in Watkinsville. It is terrible! Equipment tears up and takes 3-6 weeks to repair. WiFi sucks. Temp is never properly regulated. Very crowded and run down. I’m joining BodyPlex & driving to Winder. No comparison, and the staff is awesome. Just kids cleaning up at Athens Health & fitness. Machine in photos has been broken for three weeks!
Overall, good gym equipment, though the experience is marred by poor facility maintenance (torn carpet, broken machines that don't get fixed, truly nasty men's locker room, broken-down steam room, nasty sauna, nasty showers, nasty toilets) some of which has to do with poor management, but more of which is about the personal habits of a probably small number of nasty gymrats. This clown Greg McClure has someone call me acting as an attorney claiming Athens Health and Fitness was getting ready to take me to court over $300 that they said I owed them. Yet I had not been to this gym in 2 years I thought it was cancelled. Do yourself a favor and find a different gym because this one will take you to court and try to ruin your like over a couple hundred bucks. Disgusting people run this place.
I love this gym, the studio is massive and I’ve never been in a gym that has a women’s only gym you can access through the women’s locker room!
Let me preface this with I was extraordinary spoiled at Genesis prior to joining, however I digress. The gym...is fine. There is room for improvement. Examples would be repairing the floor where the majority of their patrons stretch, purchasing a storage closet to store cleaning supplies (i.e. mops, brooms etc.), doing a better job of keeping the floor and restrooms clean, maintenance of their equipment or upgrading to newer pieces.
