We had a great midweek getaway with The Ashby Inn as our home base. The service was exemplary before and during our stay with excellent communication. The location is perfect for exploring Middleburg, wineries and hiking at Sky Meadow State Park. The Inn is beautiful, clean and comfortable with special touch amenities. Breakfast was delicious including the coffee. I would definitely visit again.
I love the Ashby for a weekend getaway - especially the rooms in the Schoolhouse, which is quieter than the main building. The Schoolhouse rooms also feature balconies/porches that have a spectacular view of the mountains. We hadn't been to the Ashby in a while and were stunned to receive a check at the end of breakfast. The balance due was $0.00, but there clearly was an expectation of a tip on the $35 breakfast per person. Don't advertise as a B&B, if you want patrons to tip your servers too.
The food, ambiance and overall feel of the restaurant gave me very similar vibes to The Inn at Little Washington. However, the experience was dampened by the fact that when my family and I stumbled upon this place after settling into our new home in Paris VA. We came in from the back patio entrance where we were met with a waitress who told us to “look at the cost of the menu items” prior to seating us.
