average spa, but better salon – i love aveda concept spas, but i have to say that i was a little disappointed with this one. although i normally like ashas (i've been to all 3 for hair, manis, pedis, facials, and massages), perhaps they're missing (or maybe i am) the whole point of the spa experience. SO HOT – Ok for you ladies who go to Goldcoast and EXPECT a salon to not be pretentious, you are just nieve...you know you go there BECUASE they make you wait and BECAUSE it is trendy....please tell me the name of a nightclub that is hot in Chicago that you dont have to wait for...unless of course your sleeping a staff member...it is part of the appeal...I LOVED IT!!!!!!! and have been complimented on the cut and color ever day since my last appt.!!!!
NOT horrible! – I get hair, eyebrows, facials and massages done with Asha (Gold Coast). They are great. Mechelle is a God send with the facials and eyebrows! They have cucumber water and dried cranberries and almonds to munch on while you wait. The front desk is always a delight and the managers are very accomidating! My husband even goes there, now. I am having my first color this week with Asha and I am positive that is till be a pleasant experience.
Horrible – The location is prime and the Starbucks across the street is a godsend when you inevitably have to wait up to an hour at times for a simple blowdry and style. The stylists are good people and the receptionists are unremarkable and rude at time, thought they most likely pick it up from the management. They've managed to not only fumble my reservation but overcharge me as well and they have the tenacity to talk through the receptionists instead of addressing me directly. Overpriced and rude – i guess that's part of the package being in the gold coast. had my hair colored, single process. i have medium length hair. they added an EXTRA $40 on to the $50 process fee. because 'they used that much more color'. i've been having my hair done for years no other salon has ever added on more than $10 for extra color. they didn't want to budge on this supposed add on, so i'll never go back there.
The biggest disappointment EVER!!!!! – I was excited to be going there for hair/spa treatments. They were over 30 minutes late!!!!! Then they kept leaving to go get more supplies, it was unbelievable, then there was another lady there who claimed she was waiting 45 min. for her service. It was such a disappointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A haircut to die for – I initially tried Asha Salon because a friend had given me some free gift certificates...now it's my ONLY salon! I look forward to my wonderful experiences there every time! When you get a haircut and style with David you don't JUST get a haircut. And with short hair, I'm very particular! Want great a great cut? Go see Gregory – They call him an Artsitic director......I was the putty in his hands. Amazingly talented, from a top salon in NYC and he just relocated to Chicago. Ladies we are lucky!!!
