It’s been 18 years, but I feel I need to share this story. I agreed to have my baby here. But it was for a specific midwife that I chose and worked with for 8 months. Also a private room with tub. I did not want the doctor assigned to me. So what are the chances 16 females had their children on the same night? We love the ABC! They're now the Henry Ford Providence Alternative Birth Center hospital but the excellent care is unchanged and unmatched!
If I could give 0 stars I would. First when I went to the labor and delivery area to get admitted to the ABC. I literally was in ACTIVE LABOR and I had to sign in and wait for hours and hours before I could get into a room. There was literally no one in the ABC at the time. I was in so much pain and I really wanted to incorporate my birth plan.. (have music on, dimmed lights, and be in the water) but I couldnt do any of those things because I was in the triage for such a long time. I was literally groaning and moaning the en... read more
The care I received at the ABC was unmatched. The rooms are spacious and accommodating to your needs/wants. I was able to labor on my own terms in a safe setting with people I love and some of the friendliest nurses. I felt freedom in laboring exactly how I wanted. I dimmed the lights, listened to my labor playlist, walked the halls, bounced on the birthing ball, labored in the tub and in the shower, and I was able to nap in between contractions in a queen sized bed with my partner.
