Editorial fromThis modern bistro offers a menu full of surprises. The cuisine is inspired by the flavors of the Mediterranean, but ingredients hail from around the world: seared ahi with coriander-scented baby spinach and oven-roasted tomatoes, and a…

Great Atmosphere – A friend took me to this location on one of my recent trips to the East Coast. I split my time living in Chicago and Boston and traveling to other cities through out the year ,and I spend a great deal of time dining out. The atmosphere of this small Bistro in Hartford's West end is fantastic. Great decor, comfortable seating, wonderful music, and pleasant service. We shared about 6 different plates during our meal and the food, though good, reminds me of home-cooked food more than the refined and skilled c... read more

Best Restaurant in West Hartford Center – We made it a project to try all the restaurants in West Hartford Center over a few month period recently. Arugula won by quite a bit. The decor is comfortable and not pretentious, and the layout sufficiently spacious. The staff was friendly and service was attentive and obviously experienced. What distinguished Arugula most was the food, being light and flavorful and clearly reflecting a refined sense of subtleties in combining flavor and texture. Restaurants in the center cater to d... read more

My wife and I have a new favorite restaurant, Arugula in Farmington. At lunch this weekend we had the WORLDS BEST SWEET ONION SOUP with our meal. Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, and always a creative menu with fabulous results. We always include a stop to Arugula when we entertain out of town guests. Enjoy!

hidden gem in West Hartford center – stopped in for lunch last week and went back for dinner that same night.....will be making this a regular stop; the ambience, the decor, the food were all outstanding and the gentleman that served us was extremely knowledgeable about both the food and the wine (the wines they offer both by the glass and bottle are great...a nice variety and match with the food perfectly); the chef/owner came out and stopped by several tables, including ours; Arugula has about 20 tables but would easily fi... read more

Scrumptious dining experience – I had the pleasure of going to Arugula for the first time last week and can't wait for my next trip there! The wait staff was attentive and helpful without being pushy. I was there for a casual lunch with a dear friend and we stayed for just about 2 hours. Our waitress, Becca, was so pleasant and helpful when it came to suggestions from the mouth watering menu. The flatbread was the perfect combination of toppings and crunchy crust. Our salad was huge (definitely a perfect size for sharing) an... read more

This is a place that takes pride in customer service and food preparation. – My husband and I live in New York ? Arugula is our favorite restaurant in CT! We dine there every time we?re in town visiting family. It?s a small restaurant, so it?s cozy, warm, beautifully decorated, and a great place for a romantic dinner. The cuisine is magical - You can tell the chef put her heart and soul into this bistro. Must Have?s: the roasted eggplant and wonton napoleon, the grilled calamari, the duck confit and Andouille sausage flat br... read more

Reservation meant nothing to these arrogant folk. – We made a reservation a week in advance for a party of six. We arrived on time and were told that our table would not be ready for 15 to 20 minutes. There was no room for us to wait in the restaurant and we were directed (not asked) to leave the restaurant and get a drink at another establishment. I returned 25 minutes later and was told that our table had been given to another party. When I complained, the hostess called the manager from the kitchen. The manager was an old... read more

Make Reservations. – As you enter this restaurant, you are immediately in the middle of the dining floor. The menu is very unique. My wife is more of a "chicken with gravy" type of diner. She likes it simple and American. This menu did prove to have something for the both of us in the end. She chose the steak and I chose the wild mushroom lasagna. I would recommed this again for a date night out, since it was so unique. The food was nicely arranged and wonderfully prepared. We were unable to fit in a dessert. The menu has ma... read more

Great food – There is something extremely special about the food at Arugula. It may be the unique use of spices; it may be the creative menu; it may be the love that the owner, Chris, pours into each dish. But this place is unlike any other. My favorite items are the rosemary polenta appetizer, the israeli couscous (with artichoke hearts, black olives, and peas) and the sea bass with pesto and roasted potatoes in a garlic-tomato compote. There is also an amazingly delicious mixed green salad side dish. The food here is soulf... read more
