RecommendedI was happy to find a vet who takes hamsters 🐹 I never expected to need a hamster vet, but Peanut is my son’s first pet and she has become a loved member of our family. Dr. Lisa treated her as such, and was very thorough but gentle in her exam. Thank you for taking care of Peanut! The attached picture is Peanut during her exam enjoying a treat from Dr. Lisa 🐹❤️
The vets are so patient with my dog, Maybe Baby. She is so afraid of people (abused rescue) and they take time with her, give treats, and speak in soft soothing voices. They also saved my dog Norman from kidney failure. When he was able to go home, I got a one-on-one lesson on injections in the office for liquid injections to give him at home. When my senior kitty got an injury to his shoulder I had a hard time finding a vet that could see him on short notice. After several phone calls I was very relieved to hear that Arcata Animal Hospital could get him in that day. The clinic was clean, the staff friendly, & the doctor was very communicative about what they needed to do. Brought my cat in for an emergency- The staff was super friendly and the doctor didn't do a bunch of unnecessary procedures and gave me great information. Coming from Portland I was nervous about a taking her to a vet in an area I've only been in for a short time. Great experience for me and my cat. Thanks!

When my dog Sally lue sue got in her accident. I took her to Arcata animal hospital, they fixed her up with some medication n a cone around her neck,(which she doesn't like) but I'm happy they were there for her.
I've brought my cats here for about 2 years now. My experiences with them have been very positive. Their vets are always very friendly and compassionate ♡ They also post missing pets up on their board so if you've lost or found a pet you can let them know.
My Rudy started limping and his vet kept telling me to keep watching it and then told me it wasn’t a priority. so me being the worried dog mother i am i called around and tried to find a vet that could see him ASAP. I called arcata animal hospital and they saw him that day and treated him amazing and made sure he was as relaxed as possible. Dr Bartlett was amazing with my sweet Rudy.
