About this business

Specialties Everyone has different feelings, good or bad, about the trees on their property. It may be a special feeling about a tree you planted, a recognition of the considerable value trees can bring to the homeowner, or just a quiet appreciation of one of nature's wonders. Trees may also give the homeowner cause for concern. They may be messy or overgrown, or they might appear to be dangerous or diseased. In any case, like most things, trees need some care to provide maximum returns. Located in Central Maryland, Appalach... read more

Can’t say enough good things about this company. We called several tree companies and Appalachian was one of the few who actually returned our call and came right out for an estimate. The quote beat the others and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Professional, skilled, and so easy to do business with. Thank you for running a good company that isn’t out to cheat people!

We have used Appalachian Tree Company for the last 10-15 years to remove trees that have died or fallen. This week we had Appalachian cut down a large dead tree at the edge of our driveway and several smaller ones all along the perimeter of the yard. They pruned tree branches all around our yard and all the shrubs along the front of the house that have not been pruned or pruned professionally in 20 years. We were impressed with the professionalism and quality of the work the 5 guys who worked on our year exhibited. Everythin... read more

This company tried to scam my elderly mother, aka vulnerable adult by having her sign an "estimate" which was actually a contract charging 6x what her insurance would allow.

Business response:

Ms. DeMario I just want to respond to your review, by first saying that we are a company that has been in business well over 30 years, and we don't scam any customer period. Our pricing is competitive with other tree companies. Our estimates are free and we don't have anyone sign anything against their will. As far as the pricing there are many factors that goes into the cost of a job, and when insurance is involved you need to realize that there is only so much they will cover when it comes to this type of work. We provide ... read more

I used Appalachian to take down a large oak tree in December and was so happy with everything about this experience that I used them again last week to take down 2 more trees. One of the two had an obvious hole at the base and at first was the only one I planned on. Ernesto pointed out another tree that looked great but was leaning and said that was not a healthy tree. When I look at the remaining stump of that tree it is almost totally hollow. That one was leaning toward my house and if it fell would have reached my house. ... read more

Appalachian Tree Co needs to improve on their honesty. The legal definition of a cord of firewood is a stack 4'x4'x8'. However, when you complain about a short delivery they will tell you their definition is 4'x8'x two rows. Since the rows are 16" this equates to 2/3 of a legal cord. I cannot recommend this company for firewood. With the treatment I received for firewood I will not be calling them to take care of my trees.

I am very disappointed with the mess we were left. I was annoyed when they left our logs and another person logs that were already in the truck on our front yard for a few days. I was told they would be picked up the next morning, but they sat for another day. But the 14 foot wide by 1 foot high pile that still sits after a month and half is really annoying. I was told with a few rains it would shrink down. Well you know how much rain we have had. The pile still sits 1 foot high.

For $4000 I expect a better job than the destruction they left in my yard. And for stump grinding I don’t want a giant 12 foot pile of mess with giant logs and roots still sticking out of it. Unhappy costumer.
