4.5

About this business

A man-made lake provides refuge to wildlife and dozens of tame ducks, providing entertainment for the diners at this long-established San Diego seafood restaurant called the Anthony's Fish Grotto. It also makes the hour-long dinnertime wait much more pleasant for kids and adults alike. Seafood is the best bet here and the daily specials offer great value and delicious preparation. The Clam Chowder, from Anthony's matriarch Mamma Ghio, is renowned, a rich red broth liberally studded with tender clams.

My wife introduced me to Anthony's nearly 25 years ago and we have been dining here every year since then. We introduced our oldest granddaughter to it and she is now hooked as well. The pineapple coleslaw is to die for as is the thick and creamy clam chowder. The views of San Diego bay are magnificent, if your ever in San Diego this is a must for great food and views!

We love this restaurant it's a family tradition for years to eat here. We are never disappointed with the food or the service. In July it was bittersweet to have dinner, knowing the location will close.
