I am not sure why CHI Saint Joseph Health did not renew his contract or whatever has happened. But, I do not appreciate NOT being notified. I was his patient for almost 17 years and he delivered all 3 of my children. I will never use Saint Joseph for any thing, ever again. Dr. Smith was at the top of his career, intelligent, easy to talk to and he worked his rear off. He was committed to quality care and always made Patient safety a priority. Awful bedside manner. Asked me what I was eating because my my glucose test came out great and I shouldn't be as big as I was. He made a lot of body shaming comments the few times I saw him before finding another doctor. I had more panic and anxiety going in to see him than ever. I always felt worse leaving. I would cry in his office because of how he would treat me then he would ask why I was crying. He would ask if everything was OK at home and if my husband was hurting me. Dr. Smith has a wonderful bedside manner and I did not feel rushed. He asks questions about your medical background and I believe he is thorough. His nurse was amazing as well. There is something to be said for doctors who take their time and listen, there are not many like that.
The staff is friendly but they are soooo slooow. This is my second visit and both visits I waited over an hour past my appointment time just to get into a room, still no doctor. I don't think it's worth the 1½-2 hour wait to see the doctor...
I absolutely love all the staff! He just delivered my last little and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the whole experience.
