I saw Dr. Wensel 2 times (about 1 hr in total) prior to scheduled DBS surgery. Communication with his office concerning follow up questions became a nightmare. I even U.S.P.S. mailed him a copy of said questions (I had shared these questions with TWO other doctors who said that said questions were 'excellent' and appropriate). I cancelled the surgery due to the inability to get answers. Dr. W. and I met after I cancelled the surgery. His evaluation was negative to say the least. I am sorry that he did not want to answer ques... read more

He listened to me and never rushed . Explained everything. Even showed me my MRI results explained what was gonna happen. Very patient as to I am very anxious person. He did surgery through the front of my neck, healed nicely. Staff was nice and helpful. I would recommend him to my family and friends.

Thoroughly explained our options for the best outcome. Surgery outcome has exceeded expectations. Could not be happier. Surgery completed at Thompson Health Center, after care also top notch.

Dr. Wensel's Office Manager, Laura, was professionally rude and arrogant. My husband was scheduled for an August 10th morning appointment. An HOUR before his appointment the office called to reschedule due to an emergency surgery. Understood. The next available morning appointment was scheduled for September28th. Of course I requested a sooner date in that my husband's pain was very bad. But because we needed a morning appointment, there was nothing available. So we went for the 9:30am appointment. Now we have issues with pa... read more

I am 7 months post surgery and I am unhappy with the results of my laminectomy. Pre-surgery I was experiencing leg weakness and foot drop on my left side. Post surgery I am experiencing leg weakness and foot drop on both sides. I have been very faithful with exercise and am building muscle but, my legs remain unresponsive. At least I have no pain. I regret having had the surgery. In good conscious, I cannot recommend Dr. Wensel.

I was almost bound to a wheelchair and had herniated discs, sciatica, spinal stenosis, and a fracture in my back THAT ONLY, Dr. Wensel saw on the same MRI that 3-other surgeons never caught. dr. Wensel performed a fusion on my bak as it was my only option of not becoming crippled, and in just 7 weeks I have NO PAIN AT ALL, I'M WALKING, AND NEVER KNEW I HAD ANYTHING WRONG. Dr. Wensel was a great listener with all of my concerns, explained everything, and truly cared. This Doctor is a miracle.

I recommend Dr. Wensel because he is an excellent surgeon. I just received a Microdiscectomy On 10/19/2016 and recovered quickly. There were no complication from his surgery and it was performed at Rochester General Hopital. I did however crest a tear in the dura after a violent sneeze and he repaired that on 11-09-2016. He has great bedside manners and is very easy to talk to. He explains things in a way that can be understood by someone without a medical degree.

I'm very disappointed, I have been suffering with back pain on and off since 1998. This doctor came highly recommended from-one of my medical colleagues. I tried to make an appointment and the secretary was very rude and I could tell didn't have time to help me. She told me I could not be seen because my last MRI was 7 yrs ago and ALL patients must have an MRI and be ready to have surgery. So I couldn't believe it, the last surgeon I met with years ago got an MRI ordered for me under his care.

Dr. Wensel is amazing. He removed my herniated disk from the front of my neck. The stitching and the incision healed extremely well. I would recommend. Thanks Dr. Wensel????????
