one of a kind I'm really surprised by some of the not so good reviews of this bar. The place has great cheap food, a cool atmosphere and beer. I haven't been there since 2002 but it is a great memory of the times I lived in Duluth. A great place to start a night of drinking. It also now has a fan club on facebook. Check this place out.
debbie s Anchor Bar is the best place in town to go have a juicy cheese burger. Its been around for a long time. One thing that you never want to do is order a Ice Tea. I am sure you will get the look like.... what are you talking about!!!. They have awesome food.
Unique but still a dive... I go here once in a while for a cheap burger and some seasonal ale from Leinies. Avoid noon hour if you are hungry and wanting food in a hurry as many order food to go and place large orders, can take up to an hour to get your food. For some reason the beer is always flat, as if it were frozen at one time, the seasonal ale. Worst Customer Service The food may be good and cheap but the waitress is a different story. Me and some friends went as a group of 5. 4 were 21. We sat at the bar because there was no tables left. Because one was not 21 we had to leave. Its understandable and the bar rules but where I am from bar and grill means anyone is welcome. On the anchor bar website it says families are welcome. The BEST burgers on earth! This is the place to go if you like a good burger, fresh-cut fries, & eye candy. The food is top-notch & cheap. The place is filled with antiques-mostly shipping orientated. And when I say FILLED I am not kidding. If you are bored YOU must be boring. Only place I have ever known to have a cashew or olive burger. Go there now & & fondle the well-worn wood fixtures... PROS: The best burgers & fries bar none, visual entertainment constantly CONS: tiny bathrooms
The whole experience is definitely not what we expected from the normal welcoming Wisconsin people. The servers, bar tenders, and anyone else involved in the experience were horrible. AND don’t dare ask for lettuce and tomato if it’s not on the description for your less than par burger. They will tell you right quick, there’s an extra charge. It’s not clean... it’s a NO for me.
