Anarkali Indian Restaurant

4.3

About this business

Located on the hippest street in Los Angeles, this two-room restaurant serves up excellent fare in the traditional Indian style. Order your dishes mild, medium or hot and they'll arrive exactly suited to your taste buds. The chicken dishes are succulent, the naan is hot and tasty and the Indian beer is great. The decor is appropriate to the menu, as is the sound system. Indian music fills the place, drowning out your neighbors' conversation, but not your own.

Stays True to Indian Cuisine – I am of South Asian descent and would consider myself a connoisseur on Indian food. With that being said, the food at Anarkali is an excellent blend of herbs, spices, meats, and vegetables. As far as the atmosphere is concerned, the staff was very attentive to our dining needs in spite of the fact that it was busy. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The price isn't bad either. I highly recommend it.

Horrible Experience - WILL NEVER GO or RECOMMEND – Beware - Do not go by online ratings ! Go by those one/ two star real reviews peppered among the mostly 'good' ones. Nothing Indian about any food. Just lousy cooking. Went tonight for a farewell dinner for my colleague. Nothing good about anything we ordered (except the raita), but sure enough got a hefty bill for 3 with a hefty service charge !! Veg Soup - tasted nothing more than watered sambar Paneer mutter - Of course filled with paneer and peas. But tasted like feet. A... read more

The Best Restaurant by Far! – I love this place because of consistency in their food and service. Everytime I have the Chicken Tikka Masala, its perfect. I love the ambiance of the restaurant. Also, they deliver free and its fast and quality is same as if you are dining in. They give great portions of entrees and their menu price is very reasonable compare to other Indian restaurants. By the way, if you like drinking beer, try Taj Mahal beer, its really good.

Great Customer Service – I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes or wants to try Indian food. Perfect place to take a date or just have dinner with friends. The ambiance sets to the mood for a delicious Indian dinner. The prices were reasonable as well. Customer service was off the charts! The only thing I would change is to order my food hot/spicy. We asked for medium and it was a bit too mild. That said, I LOVE hot food, but I think the others in our party were a little scared of what the spices co... read more

Beware of Rip off – SUMMARY: Great food, but beware. Will try to trick you in and get as much money out of you as possible. I went there today for dinner after seeing all of the great reviews on here. I can say without a doubt that the food is great. We ordered the Anarkali Dinner for 2 for 49.95 after our friend told us of a coupon for $25 off of $40 found at the restaurants website. When we got there, they told us that the coupon did not work on this Anarkali Dinner for 2 as "too many people were ordering it" and they were... read more

The Wait Was Worth It! – My friends and I heard about this Indian Restaurant and we decided to go there last weekend. When we got there and it was packed. We had to wait about twenty minutes for our table, but the wait was well worth it. Everything we got was excellent, especially the Chicken Tikka Masala. It was the best Chicken Tikka Masala I ever tasted. I know Indian food well and this Indian Restaurant Rocks. My friends and I are also very happy that they are open late, it give us time to eat late on weekends and start ... read more

Spice Heaven! – Went there last night and WOW! I will now be a regular! Had to come here to write a review and was a bit surprised to see some negative reviews. The service was outstanding. I had just sat down when I was given a complimentary samosa. Great start. The vegetable kurma was superb and the green sauce that comes with the popadam is extraordinary - I kept it to put on the kurma! I highly recommend this place!!

Nothing special – My food was bland. Maybe this was my fault because I asked for no spice - maybe that's where all the taste is. I also got a vegetarian dish... The place has cute booths and nice decor, but don't expect to be swept off your feet by the service.

Best Indian restaurant in town by far – I have been eating at Anarkali since I moved here five years ago and everytime my girlfriend and I eat there or get delivery from them, its been great. The restaurant is beautiful and romantic. The service is very friendly and attentitive. My favorite dish is the chicken tikka masala and they make it perfect. Their menu price is very cheap compare to other Indian restaurants. I LOVE ANARKALI and plan to go there until I die.
