American Really is a terrible management company. They do everything in their power to slap fee upon fee to the tenants. Their autopay feature works fine until they add extra amounts to the account like a water bill then hit you with a $50.00 late fee even though autopay is set up. This company took over 2 weeks to fix our furnace during winter at our apartment and brought over 5 electric heaters to keep us from freezing, but offered no compensation for the spike in our electric bill for their delay in fixing our gas furn... read more
As far as maintenance goes we were very happy. Maintenance was always prompt and when we accidentally broke a window they were quick to respond and charged a reasonable price. However, they take no responsibility for pests. Ants, mice, etc. This is clearly stated in the lease and somewhat reasonable since they can’t control the cleanliness of tenants, but less reasonable when you consider that the mice were getting in through small holes in the house and the ants were getting in through a poorly caulked bathtub. Unfortunately there is no 0 star rating so I can't accurately describe my experience. Had to pay a 400 dollar cleaning fee only to move in and have the carpets smell like cat urine as well as trash that was left outside and not taken care of. I called and asked why there was still trash outside after we paid 400 dollars for the house to be clean and their response was that "they sometimes have problems with the cleaning people." I am so disgusted with this company. I really wish I read the reviews before signing my lease. $1000 on the security deposit and only received $200 back; I have never felt more cheated before. Jared will never respond to your calls, he is impossible to reach and Chantel is the least helpful person I've ever met. The entire staff is a joke. It took them MONTHS to solve a small switch up of bills, in which my roommates and I had to make all the calls for. I hate them. Especially Jared. Fuck you, Jared.
