I am very disappointed in my recent visit at American Dental Of Lagrange. I was greeted at the front office desk by a kind smiling face who was working very hard to answer all phone calls and help people coming and going. I do not know her name but I can guarantee she treated everyone the same and was very professional . She explained to me that I will need to sit in my car and someone would come get me. I waited a bit and bre came to get me, came to my car met me at the door grabbed my paperwork and introduced herself. Bre was kind, helpful, considerate, and calming. Bre explained to me every step and seemed to be training a new person (all while helping me) When all my xrays were complete I was moved to a room and the young lady bre was training met me there while bre had to go over and do a cleaning. While bre was cleaning a patient's teeth she was trying to explain to the trainee things she should do etc. When the dentist arrived I was shocked to see that it was not the same person who did my extraction in November. I'm not to fond of new people working on my teeth each visit. The dentist was in the room maybe 5 minutes, called out teeth numbers to the trainee and explained what needed to be done and he left. Bre explained to me she would be right with me to discuss what the dentist said. Bre kept apologizing for my wait time all while booking appointments, cleaning teeth, helping others, etc.... I could tell the office was very short staffed and it was hurting the flow of things. Bre then explained that I'd need to talk with Mrs. Rhonda , she asked me to follow her. When we walked up to her office I noticed a lady in blue scrubs sitting in her office (I assumed she was a hygenist) bre knocked and then opened the door and asked.... "can I bring the patient in?" Mrs. Rhonda replies in a harsh tone.... "I'll come get her!" Bre then apologized yet again and said I'm sorry you will have to wait in your car and she will come get you. When Mrs. Rhonda came to get me she would not come off porch of building and waved me in. I get into her office and she explained what I needed done and showed me what insurnace would pay and what my out of pocket cost would be. She never one time smiled, offered a kind word, never apologized for wait times. She was very matter of fact about everything and sat staring at me as I made small talk about my options. Her office was very unkempt and she was not professional at all. My out of pocket cost to have my teeth taken care of by American Dental of Lagrange would have been $3,500.00. Let's put the cost on the back burner for a second and say this. If you're working in the healthcare field and it's your responability to have people skills and make people comfortable you must be kind, considerate, caring, compassionate, and tidy. Mrs. Rhonda was none of these! She also failed to tell me that my root canals would have to be done somplace else, I was told i'd have to call and schedule that myself only after i called the next day and was told by front desk lady. So now I'll have to go through the trouble of finding a new dental practice to take care of my dental needs because your office is in much need of an overhaul. Ill take my $3500.00 someplace else. The cleanliness of the building, the rotation of dentist, and the attitude of Mrs. Rhonda is a recipe for disaster. I'm very aware that people have bad days and they cant always be chipper and upbeat but not attempting to be considerate and professional is uncalled for. Im not sure who is "in charge"in your practice but maybe they need to pop in for unannounced visits to see how things run and how the cleanliness is. Working with the public isn't for everyone and maybe you should second guess who the faces of your practice are. Something else that I do not understand is, why are the hygenist scheduling appointments? Why is there one front desk worker to handle everything ? My one opinion may not matter but I'm writing you to make you aware of some major issues that will negatively impact your practice if not addressed.
