Amanda always listens to me and reminds me that I am in control during visits. She's patient and explains every step as I have requested. She respects my requests, laughs at my cheesy, and sometimes inappropriate, jokes, and makes me feel that that there is space for me in her office. I never feel judged for my knee jerk reactions or my final choices after thought and discussion. This is a safe place! Can there be a wait? Yes. Amanda did my 6 week follow-up exam after my hysterectomy and laparoscopy. Her exam was gentle and she is obviously trauma-informed--she told me I was in control and we could stop at any time, which I appreciated. Since I was just diagnosed with endo, I had a lot of questions about my post-op report, and she was very patient with me.
I first saw Amanda in preparation for a hysterectomy. She was fine, although I did find it weird that she said "we" a lot instead of "you." Like, "how do we feel about having children /how do we feel about keeping the cervix?" But whatever, it was fine. I then saw her again for my 6 week post hysterectomy follow up. I told her that I felt great the first 3 weeks after, but then I had pain in my right ovary that had been getting worse, up to a level 10 pain WITH narcotics. I said that something was VERY wrong.
