Closed Down? – Please had great ambiance... Recently, I went over there to meet some friends for drinks and noticed they were closed down?
Great atmosphere, really bad bartender – If you're looking to host a corporate get-together in a bar for about 40 people early in the evening, this is ideal. It's central, beautiful and has a nice feel to it. In this economy, you'd think the bartender would be charming the pants off a whole bunch of thirsty ladies. Instead, we got surly, holier-than-thou treatment last night.
The food was JUST Magnificent – We brought two good friends here who had done us an unexpected significant favor. It was all of our first time at the Amalia , and it was simply marvelous. The service really stood out as top notch. They were attentive but not overbearing. Everything went just as it should have with them carefully watching us and pacing the courses. We never felt rushed. It is a lovely space that is cozy but very relaxing. It is not too formal. The food was just magnificent. I did enjoy the touted flexibility ... read more
very good restaurant Amalia's is an outstanding Mediterraen restaurant. I have only eaten lunch here, but I'm sure dinner is just as superb. Try the Moroccan baby carrot salad, it's to die for. Or even the honey roasted lamb sandwich, ummm with some herbs cooked and crusted on the outside of the meat.
Wonderful ambience The nautical-themed restaurant, bedecked with netting and wood tones, focuses on seafood dishes like olive oil-poached salmon. One standout is the chorizo-stuffed chicken breast, served with a romesco sauce and toasted almonds. It is to die for, the food is excellent.
Overrated and Overpriced – Having read the greatest reviews, we planned our Saturday night there. Disappointed! Far from what the restaurant's website represents! Poor entres menu and highly overpriced. Highly overpriced. Overrated and overpriced.
I Am A Real Reviewer – I've been reading reviews on the restaurant that mangement is posting "fake" reviews. I know that goes on and think it's shameful. Whether that's happened here, I don't know but, trust me, I am a real foodie. So Amalia is located in the aptly named Dream Hotel and one step inside and you are really whisked away into a dream. The decor is modern without being too cold or rigid, incorporating things such as a beautiful mosaic, back-lit stairway. It's truly a beautiful space. My skepticism comes out when ... read more
Good food – This is a good place for a quick dinner after work (Midtown). The food is great, service is a little unpredictable but never bad. I have been there three times for dinner and food has been consistently great. The Chilean Sea Bass is yummy, the crab cake is good as well. I have also been there a few times for drinks, it's not bad.
Great food, good vibe – I've been to this spot a couple of times for drinks and always enjoy the decor and the cocktails. Finally had dinner recently and it was absolutely fantastic! The pork tenderloin is to-die-for and the service was great though they did seem to be out of a couple of wines that I was interested in trying. Regardless, it was a great time and I definately plan to return for more!
