I have been to 2 weddings here, and I have to agree with the reviews. It is a beautiful location, but the owner does make things tense. Its not always what you say, but how you say it....they are very strict on using vendors from their list, which is understandable, but if you choose someone not on the list, you shouldnt be criticized. The posting about the owners "my way or the highway" attitude is consistent with our experience. We were very interested in Alwyngton because of its location and the indoor/outdoor connections on the website. However, when we visited with the owner we were very turned off. As we went down through the wedding checklist, she insisted that everything be done her way. It was always a "trust me ive done more of these than you" tone. Our daughters September 20th wedding at Alwyngton Manor was elegant, yet relaxed. Everthing went as the owners predicted due to the expertise of every vendor on the suggested list. The ceremony in the Rose Garden was awesome due to the beauty of the surrounding greenery and the brides carriage entrance which took everyone by surprise as planned. I was recently there in a wedding this past August 2007 and while the grounds were beautiful, the owner is exactly as the reviews claim. I do believe she has the brides best interests at heart and even said that her family and friends wont like her. She is bossy and does slap hands (mine when I was taking a picture during rehearsal).
