I bought a turntable from Alterman in 1981 when I graduated from high school. Such nice people to deal with. I wish I still had that turntable.

Have you heard, Alterman Audio has re-opened. We are located around the corner from the old Metairie store at 3101 N Causeway Blvd (next door to Men's Warhorse.) We opened in May 2015. We carry many of the same brands we had before. Our main, highly recommend and fantastic speaker line is Golden Ear Technology. They range from $250 to $2500 each. Best toy store ever! – I love this place! Henry Altermen can talk a bit over your head- but he's in the business and is supposed to be wrapped up in the minutiae of gadgetry. All the salespeople do very well with keeping it real for the rest of us; I like that I can walk in and say "I want classic two channel stereo that'll knock the plaster off the neighbors walls"( LOL) and I can walk out with stuff better than I ever thought existed.
