Alons Everyone seems to know Alons. I went there for lunch with out of town guests and we were not terribly impressed with their sandwiches and salads. But their breads and pasteries are wonderful and I highly recommend them
Great neighborhood place Alon's is a wonderful place for bread, cheeses, pastries, and the odd bit of something unexpected. Everything is always good, so the hardest part is simply choosing one thing. Highly recommended.
amazing bakery! Alon's Bakery is legendary. Its rustic breads, its delicious pastries, and its drinks bring customers from miles around to this little store in Virginia Highlands. During lunch time, this place gets very crowded with people grabbing a sandwich or soup from the bakery, so get there early if you don't want to stand in line. Simply Scrumptuous I started going to Alon's Bakery in 1996. I would always get the Midnight Cake which is soooo moist and desirable. The Cinnamon Twist are excellent also I always give these to the teachers from my children especially to say, "I apologize", or they are greatly appreciated.
Alons Me and my family go to alons ever now and then to treat our selves with cookies or cake. Like the other review said, this place is a little bit pricey but they have good foods anyway. One thing that I also like from this place is thier soup. They have good soups especially when you visit them on winters. I higly recommend Alons place to all those who haven't been there yet.
Not a fan I heard raves and raves about Alon's and finally went. Totally disappointed. The sandwiches were mediocre, not that this fact had any impact on pricing. I would eat at Panera Bread a million times before I would go back here. No idea about the pastries though...
The ambiance was beautiful and the pastries were delicious! However, this had to be some of the WORST customer service I’d ever seen. It all started when I was waiting for my drinks. I saw she was making my iced mocha, hot, so I explained that it was iced. She gave me a look, talked to the lady who took my order and then made it iced. However, she did not put mocha in my drink, and made my grandmothers drink wrong as well. You have to try the Chocolate croissants, and the Almond croissants for sure. Chicken pesto sandwiches - out of this world. Peppered Turkey sandwiches also is deliciously satisfying. If you are a desserts lover, then you definitely missing, if you haven't already been there. I would highly recommend catering as well. What are you waiting for? Are you on your way?
