Hotel is in an old, historic building. Has a nice, old-school feel to it. Staff was great, always responsive. Recommend the valet parking - good service, never waited for car long and they appear to keep it underground and not in the elements. As it is an old building, I thought the room lighting was below average and we couldn't get the temperature quite right. But it felt like a nice room and borderline mini-apartment-like. We are extremely disappointed. My fiancé grew up going to the David Whitney with his father who is no longer alive. For our wedding we planned on staying the night at the hotel and grabbing a few pictures of just the two of us in the lobby to honor his father. We were informed we would not be able to have our photographer take photos of us in the lobby unless we booked a block of rooms. Amazing hotel, and service! Female bartender (I believe her name was Emily) was outstanding! Great drinks and very pleasant to talk to! Valet team member, Tarrez, was fantastic! He carefully loaded all of our luggage into the back of our vehicle! What a very polite, respectful young man!
I stayed at the Hotel David Whitney for one night using an expiring free room reward (up to 85,000 points) through a Marriott credit card I hold. I have Marriott Platinum status. Pros: The location can't be beat. You're within walking distance to many downtown attractions and cheaper parking garages than the valet service. The rooms are comfortable and well-designed. I just adore this building. The architecture is stunning. The modernized changes fit the beauty of the building. It smells so warm and cozy inside. Even if you just stop in for a cocktail and sit in the lobby it has a feeling of opulence like no other.
