Located on the Warrington Avenue in Allentown, Alla Famiglia is often deemed as one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. Chef and owner Johnathan Vlasic offers a fantastic, rustic Italian feast in this cozy little joint that includes a Trenta, the cocktail bar and the Emperors' Room for private events. Try the tagliatele ala ragu or filet mignon - everything on the menu is bound to please you.

Absolutly WOW'd – I work in the restaurant field, so I am a bit picky when it comes to dining. But Alla Famiglia absolutly floored me. It was the best food and service I have had in a very long time. From the moment we sat down everything was perfect. The bread and four dipping sauces were delicious. Everything is huge and the salad and pasta course are served family style. I almost was to full for my entree. Steve our waiter was extremely neice and professional. I have gone twice in the past month and told everyone how wond... read more
Best Kept Secret – I read the review which complained about the high price and less than satisfactory food. I am here to tell you--that person is DEAD wrong. I think that Alah Famiglia is one of Pittsburgh best kept secrets. I eat out often in the city and entertain guests who are visiting the area as well as local residents. If they want a great view of the city, there are a number of restaurants on Grandview Ave. that can fulfill that need. If, on the other hand, you want a great meal Alla Famigilia is the place to go. Enjoyed everything but the main course and the price – Small upscale restaurant in a bad neighborhood. The prices are way out of proportion to the food. The appetizers, salad, and pasta were all excellent. However, my main course was basically a big slab of meat which was not cooked to my liking. After eating small portions of a variety of foods, I did not feel that the large piece of meat was appropriate. The cost was $60 per entree not including tip, appetizers, etc. It is BYOB with a corkage fee and they provide a certain... read more
"How's the Italian food here?" – Like it cozy quiet? Ask for a table in the back. Like a little more action? Eat up front by the cook. Definitely not a chain restaurant atmosphere or menu. (not a jab at chain food which can be good). Tasty, saucy pasta whatever you select. Steak or Veal Chop very good. House salad crunchy and zesty. Warm bread. Always a nice fish of the day, seasoned & tasty. Ask the chef to jazz up a preparation or add a different sauce, if he's not real busy. I drink a lot of water with meals & don't like ... read more
Best Italian in Pittsburgh – This is probably one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh in any category. Each meal starts off with bread accompanied by three unique spreads: a spiced garlic and olive oil mixture, a chick pea based spread and my favorite the goat cheese with grilled vegetable spread. The salads here contain the best ingredients of any I have ever had. The appetizers and main courses are both delicious and good potions. Desserts can be hot or miss. Finally, you can bring your own wine!
