Highway Robbery!!! – Never again! My husband and I were walking around the West Village during a gorgeous summer afternoon. We saw the charming outdoor tables, and asked whether we could just order a bottle of wine and sit and enjoy. Absolutely wonderful – This is my absolute favorite West Village restaurant. Sitting outside on a warm night, drinking a French Gimlet or one of the very good wines by the glass, with a light late supper of calamari (omigod the ethereal perfectly cooked, delightful lush, generously portioned calamari!) and salad - perfection. horrible – this place use to be decent but recently the head waiter and owner who lives up stairs as become so rude. They are anti american. I went with family for mopthers day...wow we were so disappointed it was so expensive and we were treated like garbage and the food was midocre at best....don't bother
Terrible food – Had brunch here today and was extremely disappointed by the food. Huevos Rancheros had no flavor and the world's worst guacamole. Chicken sandwich took 50 minutes to arrive and was still slightly raw inside when it finally arrived. There are several decent reviews on here, so I can only imagine it's recently changed management or chefs. That's the only thing that an explain the cockroaches that scampered as I walked to the bathroom. Ick!
great lunch – I was walking past this restaurant at lunchtime ,hungry and cold and stopped in for a casual lunch. Being by myself, I sat at the bar and asked the server what she recommended.She broughtt me a delicious creamy roasted vegetables soup and a grilled calamari appetizer that was incredible. NOT Good!! – We have all heard of the restaurant Alexandra. People rave and brag about the food. Let me tell you, the food was not up to my expectations for this restaurant. I ordered a steak entree, and did not feel well the next day. I asked for the steak medium rare, but was served with it simply red. I decided to eat it nonetheless. The service was however really good. However, the main thing that should be concentrated on here is the FOOD!
Tasty Food – What really makes this restaurant is the atmosphere, decor and the amazing service. It truly is a very classy restaurant and very inviting. The food is pretty good, too.Their oyster could use a little improvement but the salmon I had there was excellent and it was on top of the corn and tomato concoction that would make anyone's mouth melt. THE WORST – by far the worst service in the village! waitress doesnt care if you caught on fire she would ignore you... after waiting 40 minutes for my dinner she tried to take away my plate with half of the meal still on it, mentioning that she needed the table. THERE WAS NO ONE WAITING. won't ever go back. the food was ok, too expensive.
At first glance appealing, but below the surface a very cold establishment. – Expected a charming brunch but one of the waiters was beyond rude and unaccommodating. We honestly did not feel welcome. While we thought we had found another charming Village brunch hangout spot, in the end we decided we will never patronize this establishment again. Quite a shame.
