When I said I wanted my shirt tailored, Alex told me it would be $15. After he finished taking my measurements, he changed the amount to $25. I had to negotiate him down to $20, then down to the original price of $15. He said the shirt would be done on Thursday. I show up on Friday afternoon and he asked me to come back for it in 30 minutes. I came back and it wasn't done. He said "I'll deliver it to you tomorrow by 1pm at no charge". Very Bad Experience – They were highly recommended by Century 21 so went there to alter my suits. Gentle and soft spoken guys but the quality of the job is mediocre at best, my dry cleaner is so much better it is unreal. I am extremely dissatisfied, these guys are really no good. To make things worse, they never kept the date they asked me to pick up and I ended going there four times. Best to get referrals from people you actually know.

Bad experiance – They make promises that they don't keep. They don't deliver within the time they say they would. (We are still waiting after 2 months !!!) They don't send the confirming e-mail with post-details. For people visiting NY (Great city, love it !) I advice to look for an ather tailor.

best ever! – recently i had gone to josephs tailor shop and he had ruined 4 of my georgio armani suits i thought i wouldn't be able to recover them until i went to alex's shop. alex and david are truly the best, they were able to fix all 4 of my expensive suits that joseph the tailor had distorted . when they were done the suits were EXACTLY fit for me. BEST TAILORS. THEY CAN DO ANYTHING!!

Unpleasant experience – They tailored my pants, just shortening them. You would think it's such a simple thing that they can't mess it up. They were unpleasant, i felt like I was bothering them. When he measured my pants, he just made a quick line on the hem, I thought "well, that's how they do it", but when I brought them home I realized the pants were way too short, all three pairs. First Class Tailor – I've been a customer since 1999 and Alex has always been willing to accommodate my last minute requests and his work has always been superior when compared to other tailors. Prices are reasonable and find it unfortunate some people have left negative reviews given the two tailors are very personable and considerate of their customers needs.

Avoid like the plague – Terrible tailors. Clothes returned dirty from dust in shop. Dropped off a new suit - promised to be ready by Friday but not even ready on Tuesday. Jacket pockets not opened (despite two requests to do so) and jacket fit worse than when I dropped it off. Pants were close to right, but found numerous loose strings dangling on nice new wools pants, Price was a scam too. $50+ for tailoring new suit (which fit better before I dropped it off) and $25 for shortening the sleeves on a raincoat!?!?!

Truly best tailor downtown – Excellent tailors Alex and David, have been comming here for 10 years, now on street level, even better, before they were on the 2nd floor of the same building, they are very busy but usually can do things the same day if reasonable and that's good since i'm always traveling, i have been comming here since i was 13 years old, excellent customer service and very polite, also now have a little jewelry for gifts in the frong of the store and also do custom shirts that are excellent quality at very a... read more

Avoid them, except for basics – I lost weight and took my suit in to see what they could do. NYMag rating is definitely mis-leading and if Alex is the best downtown, you better go to midtown. Don't give them anything you wouldn't have your dry cleaner do, (i.e. hemming pants). They did an okay job on the jacket, but the back puckered and they didn't seem to know what to do about it. Either they lack the skill or lack the knowledge of what a well-tailored garmet looks like. As other reviewers have said, don't bother.
