Stick to Kebabs – The New Zealand lamp (called Damavand on the menu) is excellent. But avoid Gheymeh Bademjoon (eggplant stew). It tasted like it was made with Ketchup instead of real tomatoes.
Editorial Review by Jena Vuylsteke – Wall paintings by the chef illustrate Persian traditions at this Eastside hideaway.
Mind-blowing flavors This restaurant is a hidden gem! Their storefront is easy to miss, but their food is completely amazing. It's fresh, healthy, incredibly flavorful and just downright *good*. The flavors are very unique without being too wild. The restaurant also has a lot of ambiance (such as walls covered in artwork by the owner, who is also your waiter). It's a great place for a special date or quiet conversation. A little pricey, but definitely worth it.
Pricey but not too shabby – My family and I visited Alborz for dinner right after it first opened. The hostess (chef's wife?) got our orders mixed up with another table and as the result we waited a very long time for our food to arrive. Snobs we are, we give restaurants only one chance, so we didn't go back. Then a friend invited me over to dinner there last year and I had a much better experience this time. Since then we've been regulars. It is rather pricey, considering the location (a strip mall), seating arrangements th... read more
Believe the Seattle Times – The Seattle Times has the most accurate reviews of this restaurant. google the following Alborz "Pacific Northwest Magazine" (put Pac NW magazine in quotes) AND Alborz Seattle Times ---- I just L-O-V-E Alborz. The food quality is remarkable and the prices are very reasonable. The beautiful Persian art on the walls and the music make it a very cozy and warm place. Don't believe the reviews about how expensive it is. I was a bit concerned at first, but it is just not true. The average entree is arou... read more
Over priced, Low Quality food – I feel sorry for people never had Persian cuisine, they think Alborz has good food. Low quality food and very over prised for the food they offer. Never will go back there again and never recommend to anybody else.
Ridiculously Overpriced – Coming from Los Angeles, I've eaten at countless fine Persian restaurants, but Alborz seems to forget that it's (a) NOT located in Beverly Hills or Malibu, and (b) that their business would increase by probably 1200% if their prices weren't so userous. The food is good, don't get me wrong, but we will never return until their prices come down to what most regular diners would consider "reasonable" - commensurate with their food, location, and service. You'd think you were eating at Lutece or Nobu (c... read more
FANTASTIC!!! – One advice... Try the lamb shank!!! My favorites were the appetizer platter, the Soltani and the lamb shank. The Soltani is truly as the description says "portioned to satisfy a Soltan"! Someone should have told me the lamb shank is two large pieces of mouthwatering lamb in the tastiest sauce. DE-licious. The portians are VERY generous so expect to have enough leftovers to take home. The service is simply lovely. The staff patiently explained the menu and chef came and greeted us personally. I loved the Chef's... read more
So disappointed! – We were surprised to find that if we wanted bread, we had to ORDER it! We also ordered the shirazi salad that didn't come with the bread like we assumed it would. I had to ASK for the salad (which he had forgotten). The salad was tiny - really small for the price. Tasted okay. My husband had the ground beef kabob was flavorful. For the price, the portions of rice seemed small. I had the white meat chicken kabob which had NO flavor and was so dry. The worst part of the meal was by far the rice. The rice is ... read more
