My experience with Dr Smolyar and his assistants was wonderful. The office visits were efficiently handled by a very friendly, knowledgeable, and patient staff. No one tried to "sell" me anything that I did not need. My cataract surgery was remarkably "easy" with the great staff at St. Marks Surgical Center. Having such a skilled staff means a lot to the patient. My "new" eyes are a blessing! I had no idea how much joy it would bring to me to see with such clarity.
Wonderful care and excellent staff
Very happy with the excellent care from Dr. Smolyar. About two years ago, he quickly and accurately diagnosed a rare condition with my left eye which, unfortunately, was and is not treatable as confirmed with a 2nd opinion. Dr. Smolyar is patient and also more recently fully explained to me options dealing with a cataract that had developed in my right eye, so when I had him do my cataract surgery yesterday, I had full confidence in his knowledge and skills. Having gone to a different eye care center initially and didn’t get a great feeling about the place I never went through my cataract surgery. Then I was referred to Dr. Smolyar. My initial consultation was very thorough and he explained everything in detail. The staff was amazing at explaining my insurance coverage (I’m not Medicare yet). I scheduled the first eye surgery. Friendly and informal staff.Long waits. Likely not the staff or the doctor’s fault, but related to the vast difference in healthcare in this country compared to 40 years ago.
