I went in for a consult regarding itching breast. Dr. Sandford told me that I wasn't itching, it was my brain misinterpreting pain. She also told me the reason I was in "pain" was a hormonal thing and that it would go away when I finished menopause (I haven't even STARTED menopause!). She then said "we just need to trick your brain into ignoring it." Seriously? Oh, and "its been years since I had anyone who was SA." um...3 in 5 lady, 3 in FIVE... DO NOT go to this doc.

When I arrived I was under the impression that there were many possible surgeons to choose from here. But based on the prior reviews I read, only a Provider Sandford does them. I have never experienced a clinic as unorganized as Alaska Breast Care. My appointment was changed 3 times and I had waited almost a year for an appointment. I understand given we have minimal providers for breast care in AK, it took a while to get an appointment but the worse part was when I finally went to my appointment, the provider did not review my chart nor my genetic test results and was clueless as to why I was there. Then she told me I should’ve had my Mammogram over a year ago and I explained how long I had waited... read more

Dr. Sandford does not provide the highest quality of care. After Dr. Sandford told me I didn’t have cancer, a biopsy confirmed that I did. I immediately headed out of state for a second opinion and learned that Alaska’s imaging had missed not one not two but three spots - including a lymph node. My MD Anderson team told me Anchorage should’ve caught my cancer 3 years ago - when it would’ve been an early diagnosis. Primary care physicians in Alaska should not be recommending this practice. You’ll have much better treatment op... read more

Dr. Sanford is knowledgeable and did an awesome job of explaining things to me. She was very pleasant and has great bedside manner.
