Extraordinarily rude intake coordinator. Did not treat me like a human. Red flag for the whole business if they cannot treat people troubled enough to seek counseling with compassion.

At times I wanted to give up on therapy due to my past hurts and jaded view towards therapy. But I totally disagree with the previous reviews of 1 star. I feel Akoma is far from 1 star and is way above 5 stars. During my time as an Akoma patient, I never felt ignored and felt supported. This practice has traumatized me. I was referred by my doula and was looking forward to committing to therapy to address my postpartum depression and take accountability for my mental health. During my intake appointment with Simone we talked for an hour about why I was seeking therapy. She then ambushed me by sending the police to my house. I’m so disappointed and disheartened that women can’t receive the help they need even from a practice who claims to specialize in perinatal and postpartum support. Just look elsewhere…

I really enjoyed working with my therapist Shivonne. She has helped to prioritize my needs and set boundaries to help maintain my mental health. I was apprehensive at first but once I got over my fears of therapy is was well worth it. I liked that were in network with my insurance and scheduling appointments was easy.

During my time of traumatic loss. Akoma Counseling Concepts was there for me. I was able to learn coping skills. I also realized that finding the right therapist for me was everything for me. It's like trying on different shoes you know when you have found the right pair. I believe Akoma was great choice for and I encourage any and all to give Akoma a chance.
