Beware of Akelius Rental Management! My experience with them has been nothing short of a nightmare. While I was six months pregnant, they locked me out of my apartment due to overdue rent, which was caused by my partner losing his job. Despite keeping them informed about my situation and my intention to find someone to take over the lease, they provided minimal support. Notice how all the good comments are about the maintenance and leasing teams? And all the poor comments are about the management team? Absolutely horrifying experience trying to reach the management team, and they do not take responsibility for the lack of communication or follow ups. I’m now buddys with a couple of the maintenance people and they also tell me that the management team sucks at telling them what to do and are often late in communication. I've been renting from them in Cambridge for a year now and they are excellent about building upkeep and maintenance. For a while there, the guy we dealt with in the office was not very good about replying to emails, but they now have someone new and Taaj is phenomenal. He gets things done in a timely way and is polite and professional.
Do not trust these people. My shower pressure has been so low that I have been washing my hair at my friend’s apartment for the past month with an impossible amount of near daily back and forths between management. Before that the stove and oven didn’t work for about a month, a smoke alarm somewhere on my floor was going off day and night for weeks, there has been one working washing machine for the whole building for a while (now there might be two but the third smells awful), my doors didn’t close all the way and then afte... read more
I live at their Dwell Vienna Apartments in Fairfax, VA. I am a property manager for Greystar. Heat went out on a Sunday night. Clearly the maintenance people are not verified to fix it in house, which is fine. A vendor was suppose to be out on Monday. Then we were told Wednesday. Now we are told not until Thursday. As a manager, I know that they are choosing to go with one preferred vendor instead of trying one that has availability. I also know vendors have emergency call services for things like this.
