Very thorough and detailed . I had a very rare heart problem ...15 days in ICU...he did his research , studied the situation...made a plan with his team and I felt totally at eaze. All of his staff that visited me while in the hospital had empathy for me add really listened..leaving me feeling better and more at ease. Highly recommend!!
Waited over an hour to see the doctor. Front desk person said that was "normal" and all the patients that went before us (but arrived after us) were people who "really need to see the doctor." Apparently they thought I was there to enjoy the dusty stench and sit in plastic chairs? Obviously I cannot trust a doctor with my cardiac needs knowing he cannot manage basic skills such as time and staff. Would not recommend to a friend.
Had a 3:30 appointment. Didn’t get called in until 5:30. We liked Dr Akel once we got to see him. When we first arrived the lady at the desk asked for our insurance card. When we left I was going to give her the copay but she said there isn’t any. When we got home I got to thinking about it. It turns out that they are not in our network. She should have told me that when I gave her my insurance card. At that point we would have left and not wasted three hours. Now I have to find another Dr that accepts our insurance.
He did a catheter on me at Bayonet point hospital. Never personally met the man. Been going to his Hudson office for 4 yrs. Had an appointment for 3 months for an echo. Called them the morning of to find out he separated from his business partner to go on his own. They never called me or sent a letter to cancel my appt. They also informed me that he no longer accepts my insurance. Very unprofessional, inconsiderate, and would never trust him with my heart again! Never met the guy in 4 years of frequent visits.
Saved my husbands life. I would Highly recommend him to anyone with heart problems
Down to earth explaining his procedure so that you understand. He opened up an artery in my husband’s led that made a great difference I. The retention of fluid. Swelling with greatly reduced thank you Dr Akel.
Yesterday had an appointment for 3:30 and waited till 6:00 before dr came in the room. I went for a follow up after a stay in the hospital for a heart attack. Before I left the doctors office I thought I was going to have another heart attack. The PA came in the room and she went over everything with me and was very good but surly didn’t need to wait hours see the doctor. He spent less than two minutes with me but by that time I was so angry I didn’t hear a thing he said. It was a bad experience from the office girl to the d... read more
Dr. Akel is the most arrogant doctor I have ever met. I was referred to him for leg vein treatment. My first visit, I waited almost an hour. Second visit was for procedure #1. I waited almost 2 hours for procedure. Third visit, I waited almost 3 hours! Then he just nonchalantly saunters in like is was no big deal. I was supposed to have a follow up 6 months later. He couldn't be bothered to show up, so they said I would have a telephone follow up. He was 4 hours late calling me. I told him I had better not be charged for the... read more
