I've had many visits between tests and seeing the dr. I was referred to this dr. by a Trauma Surgeon we know. I went and had all the tests done, ie: Stress and echo and it showed I had a blockage, a bad one! I soon went to the cath lab and Dr. Akel started the cath. What he found was very scary! My widow maker was almost 95% blocked. Along with another one that he put 2 stents in, but the widow maker was tough. It had calcified !! He worked so hard on me. This Dr. was so busy that they forgot to notify me of a test result that almost was fatal to me. Steer clear.
This Dr. saved my life!! Between my PCP asking me to get a stress test and Dr. Akel's expertise, I was in the cath lab in no time. He placed 2 stents in my heart on a Wednesday, then one more the next day on Thursday. He explained why and was protecting my kidney's from the radiation and dye. He explained every detail before and after both procedures. He went through my wrist, so I didn't have much downtime. I recovered in no time at all. I have had several procedures with Dr. Akel. I found him to be professional, attentive, and very knowledgeable. After 3 Heart Attacks, 11 Stents, and an Aortic Aneurism this is the practice I trust. Yes, he may be a little late, because he is spending a few extra moments on a patient, that's a good thing when you are the patient. I would never discount a surgeon for tardiness. He's an excellent surgeon, that's what matters.
Dr Akel is one of the rudest physicians I have ever experienced. He is rude to his female patients with a condescending "dear" factor as he gives out backhanded compliments.
Beware of this Dr. I had just been moved from ICU after Septic Shock to cardiac floor. I had been waiting for cardiologist to speak with me as I knew my heart had been badly damaged. My husband wasn’t in room with me. When I had asked Dr. Akel about damage to my heart he just ROLLED his eyes as if he could care less! He didn’t give me ANY after care instructions or medication. He failed to tell me the extent of injury to my heart and acted as if he couldn’t give me a minute of his time! No compassion at all! He scurried out ... read more
Here I st at 11:41 waiting to be seen for my 10:30 appt. Told 45 minutes ago I was 2nd in line. Would leave but want, need my results. They have me stuck and stressed no consideration for anyone’s time where do I send the bill for my time?
Very intelligent doctor. Been with him for 4 years now so smart. The Best . Very knowledgeable. . His staff is so helpful and great.
