Very disappointing experience at AKA Hotel. Check-in took nearly 30 minutes, and the room keys didn’t work—requiring multiple trips back to the front desk. When I finally got into the apartment, it was around 84° and several lights weren’t working, which is unacceptable for a property at this level. The most frustrating part was the lack of consistency and flexibility. One of the worst decisions I have ever made was moving into this building. There are some bright spots (some members of the staff are lovely) but it just does not outweigh the systematic incompetence of the management. Between random loud bangs waking me up every night around 3 am & then again at 5, frequent 45 minute long fire alarms, the running water in my unit being 140 degrees, and so many other issues, this building has caused me a level of stress that has impacted my health. Really disappointed. I come to Philadelphia annually to give a talk at the Children's Hospital. I always stay at AKA and will no longer. I booked an accessible room noting that I especially needed grab bars around the toilet (I am a wheelchair user) and they did not care. I booked this room months in advance and they still claimed to not have one available. I cannot recommend this hotel to any person with a disability as they just do not care. I plan to speak with CHOP to no longer recommend this hotel to patients.

If you are visiting Drexel or U Penn, it's walking distance. It's an apartment so you have access to fully equipped kitchen including dishes and utensils. Great coffees!!!!!! Nespresso in the room and a fancy coffee machine in the lounge level. Gym, swimming pool, golf (indoor), cinema, all available during your stay. Highly recommended if you are looking to stay in University City area.
