We have been trying to get my father assessed for some ongoing health concerns. My father went through the steps of bloodwork and MRI as discussed with Dr. Virga. After making us wait several months for a follow up just to even see the results, SHE no called no showed our appointment. I saw her once and decided to not continue with her practice. She seems to have a standard spiel and after rattling on for awhile, she got impatient with me for trying to ask clarifying questions . She ended the conversation by saying that I shouldn't expect to understand it—as if my own health is beyond my scope of understanding. Her manner is brusque and arrogant. She is not a clear communicator or a careful listener. The notes she left in my chart were inaccurate.
Dr. Virga easily figured out that I have atypical vertigo from putting me through a simple exam. She gave me printouts with details of an exercise to fix it. She also ordered an MRI - just to be sure. The results produced useful information and an alternate potential cause. So I am pursuing that and also PT for the symptoms. The doctor spent the time with me that I needed and was thorough.
I recently met with Dr. Virga for the first time concerning a somewhat odd medical event that landed me in the hospital. As it was not adequately addressed, I met with Dr. Virga for further clarification. I found her to be very intelligent and well-informed. She was patient, kind and humorous. Her examination was very thorough. She asked pertinent questions and explored areas of concern that had not been discussed while I was hospitalized. Poor quality. Tried to diagnose complex neurological issues by Telehealth only to have incorrect notes and mis-diagnose problem. Didn’t show for an appointment in person. Never asked about problems that needed to be reviewed. Learned months later I didn’t have reflexes - it was never covered during in person visit. If I could leave a ZERO rating I would. I saw this neurologist for drop foot and it took 2 weeks to get results. Then she told me I urgently need an ankle brace but despite 4 phone calls, 2 faxes, 10 days later she has NOT returned my phone calls nor has she sent the prescription to the orthotist which is needed for a custom brace. Dr. Virga is an outstanding neurologist! She listens to you describe your symptoms and then takes the time to make a proper diagnosis. She has helped me to get my migraines under control. She is also a leader in treating Parkinson's patients. She is a part of the new Emerson Hospital Parkinson's Center of excellence. I would highly recommend her.
I have been a patient of Dr. Virga for almost 15 years. Dr. Virga is the most compassionate doctor I’ve ever had. She truly listens and never makes me feel rushed. She answers my questions and addresses my concerns. Dr. Virga keeps up-to-date on neurology: practices, procedures, treatments, and medications.
