Warning!!!! The Worst Mexican Restaurant Ever!!!!! – We came to this restaurant because it was highly recommended on city search but to our dismay it was obvious whoever has eaten in that establishment has never had authenticate Mexican food. I can't believe people gave this place 5 star ratings. They must be have no taste buds or must be employees/friends of the establishment that gave these false ratings. Every dish we ordered was so bland. Even if it was any other kind of food it tasted terrible. On top of that our waiter... read more

Over Rated – This place is so over rated. I must say i lost faith in city search after i visited Agave. I was so excited to go there for the "perfect margarita" which everyone has been hyping up, upon arrival the host was to busy eating, no one bothered to attend to us. Standing there confused, we just helped ourselves to the bar (like we had any other choice). Told the bartender we needed a table, she points out the host, who doesn't feel like working. We end up staying at the bar, the dining area was closed. Weird Looking ... read more

Worth the Awards! – I decided to give Agave a try after reading about the many awards they had received here on City Search. To sum it up, it was fantastic! The food was great, the margaritas were killer, and the ambiance was fun! Not to mention the staff was friendly and very knowledgeble. Agave is certainly worthy of all its praises. I will definitely be back!

Growing Pains or a Downward Spiral? – Agave used to be our bar of preference. Then they lost two great bartenders and replaced them with kids. They recently removed one of the meanest hostesses in NY and have replaced her. The food is still consistently good, the margaritas are great, but the service and the energy need to really be their focus right now. If they want to survive as a thriving neighborhood haunt and rely on regulars, they've got to work on the attitude that exudes from a sense of discontent throughout their s... read more

Don't waste your time here – As a lover of all foods Mexican, I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with this restaurant. Not only was the food mediocre at best (First of all the chef should be embarrassed at both the consistency of the guacamole, and the overuse of onions in it; and secondly, the fajitas consisted of only meat, with maybe two peppers and an onion to go along with it, plus the whole thing was doused in grease)), but the restaurant's "rules" were even more ridiculous. My girlfriend and I wanted to order guac and chips whil... read more

Overhyped brunch to be avoided – About the worst brunch I've ever had with service that paralleled the quality of the food. eggs benedict considered of a soggy english muffin, over cooked egg, dried out ham, and pasty bernaisse. The food was far from fresh and despite repeated requests, the waiter never brought our drinks. Despite the other rave reviews, I will never return.

Half Price Happy Hour – Loved the Strawberry Margaritas and the people watching out the window is enjoyable. I could definitely see this as a local hangout for the West Villagers.

Boffo brunch! – Recommended by Citysearch as Best Brunch of 2007, eight of us went to Agave on Saturday and had a wonderful experience! The food was delicious and the waitstaff was helpful, friendly, and attentive. We spent nearly 4 hours chewing our food and chewing the fat and we didn't feel rushed at all. As a matter of fact, just when we were about to ask for our check, our server offered up a dessert menu. How could we possibly have said no?

it was okay – i heard a lot of hype about this place and was kind of disappointed. the food was pretty standard and the service was kinda slow. there are a lot of interesting mexican places to explore in nyc, and i think im moving on to the next one.
