Just embarrassing display of our Health System. I refuse to call the behaviour of these people (receptionist and doctor) as anything other than abusive (dismissive, belittling, overtaking, yelling) in a child’s presence is deplorable. Children have the right to feel cared when they enter a health professionals office. We spent the night trying to reinstall our child’s trust, but I fear the damage is not reversible.
Our second visit and my child witnessed in this office something unimaginable. A place where you go for health CARE its a disgusting Health service - the receptionist is abusive and Dr. Said although pediatrician she will not treat my child for anything other than injury. Asked us to go to fam. dr or walk in. The raising of voices, overtaking, yelling at us by the receptionist made me extremely shocked and my child scared.. this is a typical use of power against other ppl .. Our initial first visit was great . But now that we need more solution and help with my son we were told to visit website to treat my son and his injury. This is what we are getting now for neededing a doctor. Wow.
I had a very upsetting experience with this pediatrician. I asked ahead of time if my son could be seen for a different issue than the original referral, because I am not used to the Canadian health system. Both the receptionist and the doctor told me it was fine and that I did not need a new referral from my family doctor for that problem (we would explore both problems during the appointment - their words).
