Great office, wonderful experience – I work in the financial district so the battery street location is convenient. They also take my insurance (ppo) which is important to me. I've gone to this office twice. The first time I came in for a spot on my face that I was worried about because I read so much about skin cancer. Dr. Binstock was very nice and told me that he'd have to make a very small incision and take a biopsy which didn't even need a stitch. It was my face and he was sensitive to that. standard doctors office, but poorly run with long waits – I have been there twice, and both times have had to wait 30-45 minutes. The last time I went, despite having a 10am appointment, I never even got to see the doctor because I had to return to work. As of 10:45am (with me still waiting) I told them I had to leave because I had things to do at work, and they seemed to not really care. Not a good experience for me – Maybe my experience was unusual. I went there to have a small blemish on my face looked at. It had been there for several weeks. I was kept waiting for 45 minutes. There was no apology or explanation for the wait. The doctor didn't seem to have any idea what was wrong but decided I needed a shot for it. I let her give me the shot, but it didn't help. Aesthetic Dermatology - Stephanie Cullinane, P.A. – I have been to this office at least three times in the last month and a half and each visit has been as pleasant as possible. Stephanie Cullinane is extremely friendly, understanding and non-judgmental. I do recommend a visit with Stephanie Cullinane if the doctor you're calling for is unavailable - that's how I got in and don't regret having said yes. She even laughed when I told her... Great P.A.- Recommend – When I woke up one morning with a huge itchy spot on my face I was freaked out and wanted to see someone ASAP. I called Aesthetic Derm and they fit me in within an hour and a half with Stephaine Cullinane. She was extremely sweet ,and explained everything to me [Shingles at age 28- yikes!!]. I have recommended her to others who all have thanked me- I highly recommend her.
Worst experience with a doctor – I've never felt compelled to write on here, but here I go! This man acted like I was the biggest nuisance of his day. He barely listened to me speak, treated me like I was an idiot (I'm not, just a little ignorant), gave me a shot without warning, didn't give me a band-aid for my bleeding wound, and hurried me out of the office pawning me off to his p.a. for next month. Seriously revolting. I HIGHLY don't recommend!
not great – Judging from reviews, it seems tough to find a skilled, attentive dermatologist in SF. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this doctor. I had 2 visits (which took a lot of effort-on account of both being cancelled last possible minute due to surgery-in the first instance the next time for reschedule was 1 month later-I had already waited a month for the appointment..) The Other Reviewers Are Brain-Dead! – I found Dr. Tannenbaum to be cordial, pleasant, talkative, thorough and professional. Those who said he "Didn't shake my hand," probably didn't even extend their hand to start the process! They probably sat there like lumps. I've been to four different dermatologists in my time, and he is one of the best.
Not recommended – Tanenbaum was not very inquisitive. He was not very open to hearing the types of medications i've taken in the past. When I began to describe such medications, he replied with, "You don't want to become reliant on those drugs." Then, he proceeded to prescribe other drugs. After receiving his prescription, I went home and did research on the drug, and the overall consensus was to NOT recommend the drug because of the side effects (which Tanenbaum failed to inform me of).
