I just came across this post and in California an LMHC is the same as an LPCC. It's a Master's level degree. A PhD trains for 4-5 years, passes comprehensives, writes a dissertation which most often is testing a hypothesis, with a comprehensive literature review, the experiment, results and statistics to address it's validity. This has to pass a committee. Then when the PhD is awarded there is often more supervision. It's 3000 hours of supervision in total to become a PhD. This woman should not have a license. Watch out!! Went in for ADHD testing and came back with the following results - "It is not possible for you to have ADHD because you have too high of an IQ". The testing was completely inappropriate for an adult (added 1+1 among other things) and did not have the clinical evaluation that is REQUIRED to diagnosis an adult. I was trying to delete all of this comment but cannot. Edited comment: I think professionals should reveal their credentials from the start. Nowadays counselors work under a psychologist and try to fulfill that role. Some claim to work as a team but they really don’t. A LMHC is not a Dr. A social worker is not. It wouldn’t matter except the level of professionalism isn’t there in many cases.
