What i found out is that chimney specialists will clean your chimney whether it needs to be cleaned or not. I was told that mine was not all that bad after he first cleaned out my chimney then my checking acct for $214.00. I know that they have the technology to look up inside chimneys. They should all do so before hand and if it doesn't need cleaning then just charge a nominal fee for the visit. I know that i called them not visa versa but I still felt like i just got mugged after the guy left my house the other day.
