Bridal Gown Alterations – I took my bridal gown to Ace to have the entire dress to basically custom fit my body. They did a fabulous job of taking measurements and when I came back for each fitting the alterations had been done perfectly. Thank you, Ace, for making my gown alterations a worry-free process!

Good Tailor – I've been a satisfied customer of Ace Tailors for years. I don't normally have anything other than a simple hem altered or easy repair made and I've always been happy. They altered a bridesmaid dress for me once and it turned out just fine, as well. I take more expensive / complex alterations to my personal tailor and it usually involves a series of visits to get the fit right -- this common sense. As far as customer service goes, the ladies are friendly but aren't the gushy type so don't sit around waiting for... read more

I agree with the rest of the negative posts – This place used to be good. But the last time that I came to have a pair of $150 pants hemmed they were in such a rush that they only put in ONE hem pin. My concern was legitimate since they ended up cutting them too short. Meanwhile, they charged me $28 for the favor. I won't go back.

only if you have money to throw away – I came in to fix a small (half inch) hole on the seam of a sweater (it had unraveled). Last year, I had a similar situation (same brand of sweater, same type and size of hole), and I came to Ace; they fixed in on the spot for $3.50. This time, they said it would cost $9.50!!! When I asked how it could possibly be so expensive, they told me that even putting thread on a spool is work that justifies that price (!!!). Then they said they'd added on an "express" cost. My choice was either t... read more

Expensive and Mediocre. – I had a pair of pants taken in there a while back. She said she couldn?t take them in as much as they needed because of the pockets. That may be true, but when I got them back, she hadn?t taken any fabric out of the seat, leaving them baggy in the stride. There aren?t any pockets there. They don?t fall off now, but they look just awful. And they charged $29 for it! The seams also split a few weeks later. I see other reviews complaining about their work coming out, so I assume because they use poor q... read more

Not good - careless with your time and your items – This was the worst tailor I had so far. I had to tell them how to correctly measure me for doing a hem for a pair of pants. Then a week later (after the pants were supposed to be ready) I got a call - they "just" realized they couldn't do the hem properly because of the lycra material. I had again to suggest them how to do it. Remind you, this was only a hem, i.e. not high difficulty alteration. I also had a jacket for which they forgot to move a belt (although they charged... read more

Do not go here – I have had nothing but horrendous experiences with Ace tailors on 12th and Lamar. My garments have almost never been ready on time and alterations they have done - simple things, like hem pants - have come undone immediately. Due to referrals, I tried to like Ace but this place is overpriced and just awful.

Horrible customer service, lousy work, overpriced – I have used Ace Tailors several times, mostly because it was convenient and I didn't know where else to go. I have experienced many of the same problems as other reviewers. They take forever to finish jobs (I think because they agree to take on too much, then underestimate the time to return items), and last time I went they could not seem to locate my item. They put me on hold forever, then said they would call me back and never did. Their prices are also ridiculous. Last ... read more

Don't seem to know how to tailor clothes, return clothes almost exactly as you brought them in – I have been to Ace Tailors several times after recommendations from friends and have made a resolution to find a new tailor! First problem: They very rarely agree to tailor my clothes. Of the four dresses I have asked them to take in, they have done 2 (and very poorly). After trying them on and pointing out that I needed the sides taken in, they told me it would be too hard to do and wouldn't really be possible! One dress was an ... read more
