I'm not sure what happened to this place but I think it has gone downhill. Ace used to be a reliable go-to tailor in Austin and even partnered with one of my favorite menswear stores for alterations, but recent experiences will probably send me looking elsewhere. Recently I dropped off 3 pairs of pants for simple hems, they quoted me 2 weeks which was fine since I just needed them by the end of the month. I had a very disappointing experience with this tailor and will not be returning. For months, I regularly dropped off items for alterations, but this most recent experience left me genuinely appalled by the level of unprofessionalism. I was asked to come in for a fitting and spent approximately 45 minutes in the store trying on garments while everything was pinned for alterations. The front desk staff for this location are very professional and nice, but both times I have dropped off a dresses for Alterations, it has not gone smoothly. The first time the dress was not taken in enough and I had to come back two hours later after they fixed it because I needed back that day. The second time was my worst experience. I dropped off a simple crepe dress to be taken in 2 weeks before I needed it, they said they would have it done by 04/29. It takes a lot for me to do reviews, however this place was a life saver! I had a last min suit disaster for my wedding and had to order an alternate suit just in case the “fix” didn’t work!! I hated the way the suit fit so I brought it to them. My biggest pet peeve is setting an appointment and still having to wait… that didn’t happen they open at 9 my appointment was 9:15.
