Our experience with my Dad has been pathetic to say the least. Medicine ordered and days later still not delivered. Equipment promised like a bariatric mattress not delivered until 21 days later. Nurses Aid promised to come and bathe my Dad not showing up for a week. Expecting my elderly mother to change, clean and dress a wound on my 230 lbs Dad who is immobile which requires her to move him on his side because the wound is on his buttock. I am heartbroken by the experience my father has had with Acadian Hospice. It has been a horrible experience from the beginning. There have been major delays in getting needed medication. He was not given the proper mattress for over 21 days which has resulted in horrible bed sores. When the mattress was finally going to be delivered we were told he had to be removed from his bed. He is immobile, and my elderly mother can not move him. He did not have his Aide show up to bathe him for over a week. My mother is 73 years old a... read more
Acadian Hospice exceeded all we needed with my mom. They were supportive, did an excellent job of preparing us for what was coming, took time to answer our questions and answered our calls quickly. I want to really shout out to Laura Swain RN who was with us from the beginning. We were so blessed to have her with us as our mom made the transition to heaven. Laura was so helpful, kind , supportive and could not have asked for a better nurse. Laura you are a very special Ange to so many on this earth. Thank you so very much.
Being notified that my mother was dying created enough anxiety as I flew from Seattle to New Iberia.
