Today I went to the clinic for the first time, I was so nervous I kept putting it off. I couldn’t be happier with my visit, I felt so safe and comfortable, I met with a counselor named Jon. He made me comfortable I told him everything, without any embarrassment, and as an anxious person that says a lot! They gave me all sorts of info, I felt cared for and positive, thank you!
Do yourself a favor and get referred to someone in Edmonton or Calgary. The psychiatrists here have the same mentality as Ignaz Semmelweis’ peers (‘we are doctors we don’t do harm, how dare you tell me to wash my hands’). I was misdiagnosed with BPD when I actually had CPTSD and ADHD (inattentive subtype). The treatments for BPD are very different from the treatments for CPTSD and ADHD. They now employ a psychiatrist. That is the only thing they have going for them. Aside from that I would say they are a mostly empty service.
