They did a good job of rebuilding my transmission from what I can tell so far. However, my experience wasn't trouble free. They originally told me 2 days but it ended up being 3 days due to them getting the wrong torque converter and the price was significantly more than originally quoted without explanation. I should have asked why it went up so much. I now have a dent that wasn't there before this happened.
I will never bring my car to AAMCO on Pike Street again. I picked it up on a Friday, two days late, at closing time. By the time I got home I realized that it was doing something it had not been doing when I dropped it off. It was shaking all over the place when I turned. It turns out the tie rods needed to be tightened, something that was triggered by replacing the transmission. Nobody mentioned it to me, nobody fixed it, nothing was even addressed. I have an '02 Tahoe that had very minor problems with the transmission. I meet Scott when I dropped off the truck and told him the problems I was having. I went in expecting the technician, Hank, to say that he could find nothing wrong when he did his free diagnostic check and drive. Instead he discovered the problems I said I was experiencing and one that I forgot to mention, I was shocked and pleased. They called me and told me what was going on and what needed to be replaced.
