I honestly think this is probably the worst apartment complex you could pick to live at in the area that's still close to campus. I lived here for 3 years, and there was always one problem or another. To start with, the amenities were always down, with the hot tub being broken half the time, one of the elevators being down pretty often (with the elevators already being some of the slowest I've ever dealt with, mind you), the in-unit dishwashers sucked and frequently did not clean our dishes at all. I’ll start with the good: location is excellent: close to campus and right in Haymarket area. Staff and maintenance: super friendly, helpful, and always timely Amenities: lobby area is fairly nice, hot tub/roof deck is a huge plus, and gym is a nice touch however rec center is better anyway. Now the bad: Fees: upon moving out I got charged numerous fees for: a carpet stain that was there when I moved in, an un-dusted window sill that was disgusting when I moved in. I would not recommend living at 8N Lofts. During my lease, there was an ongoing roach problem that never seemed to be properly addressed despite being told pest control would take care of it. The building also had frequent late-night fire alarms, and the elevator and amenities were often out of service. Security was another major issue. I was randomly attacked in the stairwell, which made me feel unsafe living there. To top it off, I was charged $160 for a full bedroom repaint at move-out over a few small nail holes. My experience with 8N Lofts was disappointing because of the inconsistency from management. I was told one thing when I moved in about hanging items on the walls, but received a completely different response when I moved out. After talking with other tenants, it also seems like move-out charges are not applied consistently. On top of that, my apartment was not delivered in the condition I expected.
