The new chinatown – Clubs always change owners and now Dan Herman and company will keep the good times rolling for 169 Bar. Lots of good acts have played and new great ones are coming in December. That's when I'll be stopping by again.
Don't waste your time! – This is not a bar worth going to...ever! The atmosphere is extremely dank, its on a deserted block and the staff is miserable. Drinks aren't priced any cheaper than any other dive bar on the lower east side and this one doesn't have any personality. There was a band playing when I was there and there really isn't enough room to put a band in, plus the sound system is terrible.
Probably the rudest bar in all of NYC – I've been here a couple of times to see a friend's band and each time it gets worse. The staff is unbelievably rude and the atmosphere is pretty gross (and I have been to a lot of dive bars). I wouldn't mind as much if they had good drink deals but they don't. Each time i have been there I see less and less people so I wouldn't be surprised if this place is closed in a couple of months. If this is under new ownership then they did an amazingly bad job!
Very unprofessional – I was there to watch a local band called Sick as Monday and the staff was completely unprofessional and rude to the customers and to the band itself. A bunch of us just walked out. They wont get my business again.
Best Kept Secret – The enviroment of 169 Bar is like "Cheers" with an exciting edgy touch. A friendly, warm atmosphere filled with an entertaining garden area, pool table, dance floor, and lounge area. Definetly a diamond in the rough!
a very cool spot – I love this place. It's nice and dark. There is plenty of seating. Friendly staff. Pool table. Fish tank. But best of all...a new sound system that kicks a$$! Good deejays on the friday night we went.
